I suppose everyone has favorite clothes to wear. My friend loves this motorcycle jacket, so he wears it like his second skin. I have a partucular disco shirt I'd like to wear all year around, because it gives me such pleasure when I put it on.
I usually wear shirts more often than I wear sweaters. In fact, I didn't wear sweaters at all last year. It doesn't mean that I dislike sweaters. I've just missed wearing them!
I finally had a chance to wear a sweater tonight. A friend of mine invited me over to his wedding aniversary celebration, and I'd been lucky enough to get off the work early, so that I could attend the party.
I didn't feel like wearing suit and tie, yet I wanted to look adequate and elegant. So, I picked up my favorite sweater.
This is a beautiful piece, and I absolutely love it. It is a turtle neck sweater by Tom Ford for Gucci. If my memory is correct, it was in 2001 S/S Collection.
I have reraly worn this sweater, but I'd wear it in the special occasion like this.
I was wearing this with DKNY cargo pants, Louis Vuitton boots, and a vintage Bristol Leather jacket.
Well, party was all good. I was very thankful for the invitation, I really hope for a great year for him and his wife.

To Become My Own Jeweler
In early post, I complained that it's become hard to find the accessorise I like to wear. I'm not interested in those mass produced accessories. Things I like tend to be too expensive to afford, yet I do not want to complomise my style. So, what can be the solution?
Well, I would design and make my own accessories then!
Therefore, I started taking a basic jewelry making class. That was a 6-weeks-course, and 7 students were in the class. We had the instructor from a local jewelry shop, and she tought us all the basic skills.
Those are basic tools for jewelry making. Hammers, a forming block, bezer rollers, files and etc... Our class assignment was to make rings. So, we used those tools to cut, bent , and filed metal and formed it into the shapes we like. It was very time consuming and frustrating. Sometimes, it took me hours to file a part!!
This is the picture of the soldering station. We used this torch to solder the parts together. Soldering was the most fun and the hardest part. It could go wrong so easly, but we had to do it right to finish our assignment.
Here is the finished product. I could have done better, but this ring is totally wearble, and concidering this is my first time making anything like this, I am satisfied.
The 2nd session of this class has just begun. I hope I can report what I am working on right now in future post.

Reloaded!
Happy new year!! I hope this is going to be a good year for those who love fashion.
I've taken a long break, for I started this blog with no directions at all, and I was sort of burned out.
End of the last year, a friend of mine called me up and told me that he was still looking forward to the updates on my blog. So, I'm back.
It was properly cold day for a fur coat, so I decided enjoy this cold weather. After I'd had a lunch meeting with my friend, I took a long walk on a local college campus. I was pretty much the only one there, for all the students were still on winter braek. I could really enjoy this moment of silence while I was walking.
People often ask me why I wear fur coats. I can see it's not so common a thing for guys to do especially in the USA. The 1st reason I put on fur coats is I found them very practical and adequate for my style. Fur coats have good wind-breaking function because they are leather, and air warmed up by body temperature stays among the hair thus they keep me warm in freezing cold days. I usually wear a shirt or a t-shirt even in the winter time, so I can really use a fur coat when I have to be outside. Why do I not wear smothing like down jackes? They surely are warm, but they don't have glam!!
I was wearing a vintage pony fur coat, 70's Nik Nik disco shirt, Diesel "Daze" jeans, and vintage motorcycle boots.
I got back home and took care of the things and tasks needed to be done.
I could have a little time to relax later on, so I had a little tea break. I always love to have a good and hot cup of tea, but it tastes the best in cold winter days like this. Sometimes, I live for this moment!
Anyways, "Happy New Year!" again, and best wishes for you all!!

Techno Fest!!
It feels like officially summer time! All I can say about this time of year is " I hate summer!" for 2 good reasons. I really can't take the heat! I can stay in the room with aircon on for all summer long. The socond reason; it is the time when mens fashion becomes so boring. Most guys wear t-shirts or polo shirts and shorts in this part of the USA. It's so hot that you are going to melt if you stay outside more than 10 minutes, so I can understand that. However, I'm not fond of shorts, and I cannot bore myself wearing same kinds of clothes everyday. Well, I'll do my best to entertain myself and readers.
It was my friend's birthday, and he threw a pivate party at a club. I'd got an invitation last week and I was looking forward to it!! He'd told me that there was going to be a lot techno music from 90's. It got to be fun! I had to dress properly to enjoy it.
I picked up a look from one of my favorite movies " Hackers" in 1995. I love how Angelina Jolie dressed in the movie, especially when she wore a Quicksilver rash guard and tight jeans. I decided to copy the look, so I picked my top from these selections.
I didn't feel like wearing boots, so I chose my footwear from my cyber sneaker collection.
It ended up looking like this.
I was wearing a Fuel rash guard, Levi's 511 skinny jeans, and Adidas TS Bounce Commander shoes.
The party was a blast! The people were dressing nicely, and as he'd said, the selection of music was great. Fat Boy Slim, The Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx, The Prodigy, The Crystal Method and so on! I could dance with their music all night long.
I left the party at around 2 a.m. because I have to work tomorrow. I wish I could have stayed longer because it is rare to attend the party that I want to stay over night.

Fake Alert!
Couple of weeks ago, I picked up something really interesting at a thrift store. A pair of fake True Religion jeans.
Yeah, these are the ones. This is a small town, yet I can still find fake name brand jeans. I started to wonder how often I could find fake jeans, in this case, fake True Religion jeans. So, I've conducted a little survey to see where I could encountor fake True Religion jeans in this town. Over the last 2 weeks, I've visited department stores, thrift stores, and second hand shops as many as I could.
First, department stores. They must not sell fake stuff! Everything I saw there was authentic with full price, around $230.00. No bargains, yet the safest place to buy genuine products.
Then thrift stores. It is truely depend on who drops what kind of items. Within this time period, I could not find any authentic True Religion jeans, but I found fake ones twice. All jeans were $5.99 there. So, if you can spot authentic name brand jeans of any kinds, you can get bargains.
Finally, second hand shops. People go there to buy, sell, trade clothes, so they have the fastest cycle of items. I have counted 15 True Religion jeans during the time period, and found out that 9 of them were fake. That means 60% were fakes!! Moreover, those fake jeans were sold at $45.00 to $55.00 price range, and that was total rip-off! It became obvious that shop staffs didn't know how to distinguish fakes, and you have to be very very careful to shop there if you don't want to grab fake stuff and pay for it.
Well, I guess I've seen enough, so I'll share the tips to distinguish between authentic and fake True Religion jeans as much as I can tell. I'll place the photos side by side, and it is always going to be authentics on the left and fakes on the right. I must apologize the photo quolity though. This is the best I can do with my camera.
Back labels. The authentic one uses yellowish white fabric and looks neater over all. The Buddha is more detailed, and the stitching is even and stright. The fake one, on the other hand, the fabric feels cheaper and looks a bit paler. Look at the stitching. It is neither even nor straight. Look at the lower right corner. There is a line of stitching branching off the main virtical line. You will not see this kind of blemish in authentic True Religion jeans.
Those are reversed sides of labels. On the authentic jeans, nice and straight stitching done with thick red thred. On the fake jeans, the stitching is poorly done with partly red thred and partly black thred. There will never be such flaw on authentic jeans. I can say that stitching quality on the fake jeans is really poor over all. So, this can be the first place you want to check.
Here are the inside tags. It is hard to see in those photos, but in the tag on the fake jeans, the Buddha looks kind of beat up.
Now, here is fairly easy place to check, bottonholes. You can take a look at how clean and quality job a craftsman has done on the authentic jeans, while the bottonhole on the fake jeans is complete rubbish!
All the things I've written so far are just guides and tips. The techniques of making fake products have improved daily. It means the fakes would look closer and closer to the authentics. In fact, a few things I did not mention here, such as zippers and Buddha stamps on fake True Religion jeans, have started to look pretty much like the authentic ones. So, do not over trust the guides.
The best defence to avoid buying fake products is to get to know how authentic products look and feel. Fake products will never meet the qualities of authentic products. When you try on authentic True Religion jeans, you want to see how they fit you, how the high quality denim feels on your skin, and how comfortable they are when you move around.
Then what is the point of wearing fake products? Does that make me feel as good as putting on authentic products? The answer is "NO." I wore those fake jeans for a whole day and went out to test if I could bear with them. I was unpleasant all the time because of the fact that I was wearing fake jeans. Some people seemed to notice that jeans were fake, and it was kind of them not say anything, but I was really embarrassed.
The moral lesson is, I must wear things that makes me happy. Otherwise, I am not myself.
This is more like it! I am wearing a real pair of True Religion jeans with American Red Cross t-shirt, a vintage Oscar de la Renta tie as a belt, and Tony Lama western boots.
In the end, I want to say this. No matter how cheap they may be, do not buy fake products! Because when you wear them, you can never have confidence and pride to show yourself in public.
When you dress like yourself, you want to make your appearance with dignity.

Tags usually say jeans are "made in usa." However, I've seen other variations of tags such as " designed in usa" or " made in china" on some fake jeans. It brought up this question. Are there any other variations of inside tags in authentic jeans? There is only one thing I can do. I went to the nearest True Religion store, and checked as many tags I could. It seemed all the jeans had "made in usa" tags, but shorts had "made in Mexico" and "made in Sri Lanka" tags. I even asked the sales clerk if he could explain it, yet he didn't know anything at all. So, the best we can do when checking the inside tag is making sure it is neat and "made in usa" written on it.

Scandiavian Treasure
Early this week, I was hunting for metal necklaces for spring look, yet I couldn't find ones I liked. I talked to a friend of mine about it the other night. He said he's got 3 metal necklaces he didn't wear. They were for sale, and he would give me "friendly" price for them. I went to take a look, and as soon as I saw them, I decided to take them all!
They were all scandinavian jewelry and quite unique.
This one was designed and created by a Dannish modernist, Jacob Hull. He was popular in 70's, and a lot of his jewelry work was done in that time. This gold-plated piece is certainly pretty. Hoever, it is quite large and loud, about 2.3 inches in diameter, and I haven't come up with proper ways to wear it yet.
Now, this necklace was created by Studio Else & Paul of Norway is 70's. They were known for lost wax casting method thas they were good at creating complex figures. I love this piece. It has nice dissected spiral shell like structure with a turquoise stone in the center. It is eye-chatching yet not so big and loud. Thus I can probablly wear this with any tops.
This piece was aloso done by Studio Else & Paul. It has a sort of iris like complex shape. And this too is a large piece of jewelry (even a bit larger than the first one), yet it is a calm and sophisticated piece. I would like try it on with pullovers.
I've always so attracted to scandinavian jewlries from 60's and 70's. Seems like jewlry designers got inspirations from mother nature, they refined the images, and expressed through the jewelries. Somehow, I can never get tired of looking at them. I'd really love to live in scandinavian countries and see what inspired those designers with my own eyes.

Metamorphosis For Spring
Well, spring time has offcially begun, and it's been so warm, so I've given up wearing coats. I was wearing a vintage Vivienne Westwood sweater and Hollister cargo pants. That was sufficient! In fact, I was sweating a bit.
But, I cannot let myself down just because it's gotten warm. Therefore, I decided to go shopping for something "spring" like for 2 good reasons. First, I just got payed. Secondly, I should enjoy spring though it isn't my favorite season.
I was resting in a shopping mall, observing people, and thinking what things to buy. After sitting there for about 10 minutes, I saw a young lady wearing a shirt with flower print and a metal necklace. Then I thought that outfit was properly spring!
I was all over the mall searching for flowery shirts and metal necklaces. Again, I was facing the same kind of diremma. I wasn't able to find anything in reasonable price range, and I couldn't afford the things I liked. I spent nearly 2 hours for nothing. I headed for some shops in town with a little hope.
Finally, I found a shirt I liked at a thrift store.
I fell in love with this shirt. It is a western shirt which tag is read " Ely Cattleman." Not sure how old it is, but it is a nice vintage shirt. The color is lovely, and it is very flowery! I was very much satisfied with this purchase.
I couldn't find nice matal necklaces, yet I found those.
6 flowery ties that are very suited for spring! Ties were not something I'd had on my mind originally, but they'd work.
Now, I must go home and try everything I found today. I'm really excited, and I believe I can enjoy spring time!!
